In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, Young Artists laureate Mackenzie Melemed presents Americana—a vibrant program featuring music by Copland, Ives, Beach, Gottschalk, Rorem, and other iconic American voices.

Recipient of the 2022 Avery Fisher Career Grant, American pianist Mackenzie Melemed has emerged as a distinctive musical voice of his generation, praised for his nuanced interpretations and deep artistic sensibility. Hailed as “an excellent young pianist” by The New York Times, he gained exceptional early experience with more than 500 performances by age thirteen.
Known for programs that blend familiar works with rare discoveries, Melemed creates thoughtful, story-rich musical experiences. He has appeared as soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic, Edmonton Symphony, and Polish Radio Orchestra, and in recital at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall and major venues across North America, Europe, and Asia.
A Steinway Artist and graduate of The Juilliard School, he is especially committed to championing lesser-known repertoire and rarely performed concerti. Since 2020 he has made his home in Finland, where his success at the 2017 Maj Lind Piano Competition helped launch his international career.
